Posture

We are born with perfect posture

In this photo the baby shows perfect posture, holding her head easily on top of the spine with her chin parallel to the floor. The shoulder girdle is in a relaxed position and the elbows are softly bent. The pelvis is in a neutral position and the spine is perfectly extended.

During our lifetime our posture changes for many reasons, the most important of these being the positions we adopt on a daily basis such as holding a smartphone or working for hours in front of a computer.

The things we do in life change our posture

The head of an adult human weighs about 6kg. In order to support this weight correctly, the head should be balanced exactly atop the spinal column. Even at an angle of 15 degrees, the force that acts on the cervical spine doubles. If we bend our head forward by 60 degrees, the force increases to 25kg.

Though our muscles, tendons and ligaments support this weight during incorrect standing and sitting positions, the poor physical performance associated with smartphone use and working hours in front of a computer results in significant strain on the cervical spine and can adversely affect our neck, shoulder and back muscles.

My individualised training methods will help you prevent poor posture. By practicing more balanced and dynamic movement you will increase your sense of well-being.

When all your muscles are properly developed, you will, as a matter of course, perform your work with minimum effort and maximum pleasure.

Detox

Deep flexion of the abdomen and rotation, extension and flexion of the spine massages the organs and increases the flow of fluids in the body. Activating the organs in this way brings them into balance and gives us more energy.
